I went to the Samsung Experience at the Time Warner building on Monday.
It was kind of cool because they had a custom made 80 inch Plasma screen showing the car chase scene and the final fight of I, Robot. I wasn't the biggest fan of that film when it came out but watching it on an 80 inch screen, five feet away from me, made all the difference in the world.
Anyway, I decided to walk back to work from Columbus Circle (where the Time Warner building is located) and on the way back I witnessed a fire that had started in the Port Authority Bus Terminal.
At first I just noticed the smell of burning chemicals and thought that it was construction related. But the closer I got to the terminal, the thicker the air became with smoke.
When I got to the corner of 42nd street and 8th avenue I finally saw where the smoke was coming from.
It was billowing out the 42nd street side of the parking complex.
The Police and the Fire Fighters arrived at almost the same time and went to work controlling the scene and battling the fire.
How did it turn out you ask?
Well, I don't know but I can assume that everything worked out fine seeing as the Port Authority is still standing.
I do have photos of the smoke rising out of the Port Authority building though which I plan on uploading later tonight here and on cityscape.
So, tune in later to see those if you're interested.
Peace =)
